I am my best friends’ Best Man – the wedding is distant – do I travel on MY dime?
I was recently told that my best friend needs to have an initial quick ceremony (within 6 wks) halfway across the country (East US), so he can get married in front of his parents before they move overseas the following day for rather urgent medical reasons.
I don’t want to be cheap about it, but he knows I live on a shoestring budget (no joke) and every last dime goes into growing my small business [getting better - but grows verrry slowly]. He will also have another full out wedding on the West Coast a few months later. I live in Central US.
My question is – Is it proper for me to foot the hotel and airfare
on these trips? These trips, let alone the gift and bachelor party, will damage me financially for quite some time – but I want to do the right thing – I’m clueless to the etiquette……Thanks for your help.

I am a fantastic ‘hunter’ who really enjoys the ‘hunt’ and ‘the close’ in addition to uncovering new opportunities with established customers/clients. The relationships I establish last; people remember me even if they haven’t seen me for a couple of years.

What they tell me is that they miss my ideas, projects, energy, enthusiasm and sense of humor(and this is coming from engineers who tend to be reserved). My ability to ‘read’ people is superior, my tenacity and persistence is unparalelled (always with tact and respect.

Unlimited travel is fine.

I want a reputable company that produces a superior product and delivers it on time and budget under normal circustances. In addition, a company that practices customer service is key.
